Once the ghetto of Moors freed after the conquest of Lisbon by D. Afonso Henriques, 1147, Mouraria is still characterised by its multicultural environment composed of significant chinese, Indian, African communities, which influence the neighbourhood´s daily life and habits. Over time, these communities have blended their business and sounds with existing tradicional commerce and houses of Fado.
