Once the ghetto was freed from the Moors after the conquest of Lisbon by D. Afonso Henriques, 1147, Mouraria is still characterised by its multicultural environment, composed of important Chinese, Indian and African communities, which influence the daily life and habits of the neighbour. Over time, these communities mix their businesses and sound with the existing traditional commerce and Fado houses.
